Global Oil Demand to Improve in 2H, But the Road to Recovery Is Long
Global demand for oil will be down significantly in 2020, despite a recovery in the second half, according to HSBC.The bank notes that data shows improvement in oil consumption in most key regions. Moreover, the data also suggests driving activity is now recovering in the U.S., Europe and most of Asia, despite coming off of very depressed levels. "As lockdowns gradually ease we expect the recovery to gather momentum in the second half, but still see full-year 2020 demand down by around 9 million barrels of oil per day, year-on-year," it says.
